Appalachian Bible Institute was founded in September, 1950 at the Independent Baptist Church in Pettus, West Virginia, by Rev. & Mrs. Lester Pipkin (from Minnesota) and Pastor & Mrs. Robert Guelich (from Pettus). The school started as a Bible training institute for the youth of the Appalachian Mountains.
Organized as a faith mission under the auspices of Appalachian Bible Fellowship, ABI identified itself with the National Home Missions Fellowship, an organization of independent, fundamental mission agencies, which is today known as the Fellowship of Missions.
Appalachian Bible College equips servants through a biblical curriculum of quality academics and guided Christian Service that nurtures Christ-like character leading to effectiveness in passionately serving the fundamental church community.
Appalachian Bible College exists for the purpose of educating and equipping servants for the Church of tomorrow while edifying the Church of today.
