The Chaminade University Montessori Laboratory School serves the Honolulu-Oahu community and is a demonstration school for Chaminade University of Honolulu. The Montessori Laboratory School is a living memorial to Father Chaminade’s vision of Catholic and Marianist education. As an integral part of the University’s Education Department, the Montessori Laboratory School serves as a laboratory to provide practicum experiences for the Montessori Teacher Training Program and other university programs.
The Chaminade University Montessori Teacher Training Program is a professional training program for teachers of young children. It prepares and trains candidates to conduct classes for children between the ages of 3-6 years in a Montessori setting. Candidates that complete the program may receive a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and receive an American Montessori Society credential.
The Chaminade University Montessori Laboratory School is a preschool and kindergarten laboratory school which serves children aged three to six in the Honolulu-Oahu community and has been in existence since 1982. The Chaminade University Montessori Laboratory School utilizes the Montessori philosophy and as a part and parcel of the Chaminade University mission to serve the entire community of Honolulu to provide high quality early childhood education.
The Chaminade University Montessori Laboratory School is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and is a practicum site for the preparation of Montessori early childhood credential teacher candidates. This Montessori Laboratory school is also accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and affiliated with the Catholic School Department of the Diocese of Honolulu and is fully licensed by the Department of Human Services of the State of Hawaii.
