The history of Cherkasy State Technological University begins in 1960 from the Cherkasy General Technical Faculty of the Kyiv Institute of Food Industry (Order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the RSFSR No. 84 of March 11, 1960).
In the years since its foundation, Cherkasy State Technological University has become a leading scientific and pedagogical center for the training of highly skilled personnel in the Pridneprovsky region thanks to its powerful staffing potential and accumulated experience of educational, scientific and educational work.
The first director - the dean of the Cherkasy General Technical Faculty - was the candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Leshchenko Dmitry Dmitrievich, who made a lot for the formation and further strengthening of the newly created educational institution. The first teachers of the faculty were V.P. Kryshtopa, O.E. Kravchenko, MP Loetsky, D.S. Sirota, N.I. Peresipkina, VS Korolevich, AV Agaltsev, VI Chatechin and others. Scientific degree and academic rank in 1960 were: P.Yu. Marunya, I.Ya. Kazinkin, V.T. Starling. Associate Professors of Cherkasy Pedagogical Institute M.E. Fonkich and GO Bugaenko worked part-time.
Cherkasy region and the regional center in conditions of rapid development at that time, most needed building engineers. Therefore, since May 20, 1961, the Cherkasy General Technical Faculty was subordinate to the Kiev Engineering and Construction Institute. At the faculty then studied about 500 students. In 1963 the first issue was held. Students after a three-year term were transferred to continue their education in other higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
