About Donetsk National University of Economy and Trade
The history of DonNUET begins in 1920, when the Ukrainian Cooperative Institute was established on the initiative of economist M. Tugan-Baranovsky. On November 16 of the same year the institute became the cooperative faculty of the Kiev Institute of National Economy, and then, in 1922, the Kiev Cooperative Technical School and the Cooperative Institute. In 1933–1934 the university merged with the Kharkov Planned Institute of Consumer Cooperatives and it moved to Kharkov. In 1940 it joined with several Kharkov universities to form Kharkov Institute of Soviet Trade. In 1959 the Kharkov Institute of Soviet Trade moved to the city of Stalino and became the Stalin Institute of Soviet Trade, and from 1961, the Donetsk Institute of Soviet Trade.
Since the 1960s, the Institute has opened branches and subsidiaries in various regions of the Ukrainian SSR (including Kiev, Odessa and other large cities). In 1992 the university became known as Donetsk State Commercial Institute, and in 1998 as Donetsk State University of Economics and Trade. In 2007 it received the status of a national university.
For its success in training specialists and in connection with its 50th anniversary, in 1970 the University was awarded the Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR.
