Ernst-Abbe-Fachhochschule Jena

The Ernst-Abbe-University Jena (short: EAH Jena ) was on October 1, 1991, as the University of Applied Sciences Jenafounded and was the first college in the new federal states. Since the summer semester 2012, she bears the name of the scientist, entrepreneur and social reformer Ernst Abbe .

EAH Jena is a member of numerous networks. Together with other East German universities, she was involved in the campaign Study in the Far East and as a Thuringian university, she is involved in the Campus Thuringia network.

The research and development department of the EAH Jena comprises three main research areas :

  • Präzisionssysteme
  • Technologies and materials
  • Health and sustainability

As part of the obligatory practical phases as well as the preparation of the final theses with external partners, the broad base of the students undertakes research and development tasks. Under the direction of professors, a large number of research projects are conducted annually, predominantly in cooperation with companies and institutions.
