The University of Applied Sciences of the Diakonie in the Bielefeld district of Gadderbaum is since 2006 a state-recognized church college. It offers extra-occupational study programs for the fields of action of the Diakonie in the field of social and health care.
The sponsor is the University of Applied Sciences Diakonie gemeinnützige GmbH (Bielefeld) with eleven partners. The main shareholder is the Nazareth Foundation within the v. Bodelschwinghsche Stiftungen Bethel. Also included are the Diakonie Deutschland - Evangelical Federal Association, the Evangelical Johanneswerk, the Protestant Pertheswerk Münster, the Diakonisches Stiftung Wittekindshof, the Hoffnungstaler Stiftung Lobetal (Brandenburg) and the Protestant Hospital Bielefeldinvolved. The Diakonie Stiftung Salem non-profit GmbH, the Diakonische Werk in Kirchenkreis Recklinghausen eV, the Diakonisches Werk Ennepe-Ruhr / Hagen, the Diakonische Werk Gladbeck-Bottrop-Dorsten eV and the Diakonische Werk Oldenburg are participating as regional Diakonische Werke.
Without a college entrance qualification or a high school diploma, the studies can be taken if the applicants have completed relevant vocational training and have worked 3 years in the profession. Non-professionals can take an entrance examination. Prerequisites are
