The University of Applied Sciences Wedel (Engl. University of Applied Sciences Wedel ) is one of the few private but non-profit colleges in Germany. It is state recognized and offers eleven bachelor and six master degree programs in computer science, technology and economics. It is located on the western outskirts of Hamburg in Schleswig-Holstein and is funded by tuition, a national grant and third-party funding.
The FH Wedel is a family business and since its founding in 1969 is now managed in the third generation by the grandson of the founder, Eike Harms (as of November 2018). Currently, about 1350 students are enrolled at the university.
Since 1996, the university offers a semester abroad. In the beginning, she relied on cooperation with universities overseas. Later, the European foreign countries were added with the Erasmus program. In the meantime, the university cooperates with around 30 partner universities worldwide.
