The Leipzig Business School, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management since 2012, is a privately run, state-approved business school in Leipzig with doctoral and habilitation law.
The HHL was founded in April 1898 as a private commercial college on the initiative of the Leipzig Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the German Association for Commercial Education according to the ideas of the pioneer of the College of Business Education, Gustav von Mevissen. After several moves she had since 1910 established in the by Fritz Schumacher designed building in the Knight Street (today Scholl-Haus ). In 1946 she was incorporated as a faculty in the University of Leipzig, received in 1969, however, as a successor to the closed college of Internal Trade at least partial autonomy back.
In 1992, the university was closed as part of the amendment to the Saxon Higher Education Act. In the same year, it was re-established as a private university business school by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Leipzig. In 1996, the first students were enrolled, 2012 was renamed HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. The university is located at Jahnallee 59, opposite the Palmengarten at the Elsterbecken.
