The Ansbach University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Ansbach) is a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded in 1996 and counted approximately 1,800 students as of 2008. It is the newest University of Applied Sciences in the Free State of Bavaria. The percentage of foreign students is about 6 per cent. As of 2010, there are 2,300 students.
Beginning with the winter semester of 2006/07 the Bologna Process was implemented. As part of this, all academic programmes awarding the German “Diplom(FH)” degree were replaced by bachelor's degree programmes.
In January 2008 the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences was ranked in first place in the “Hochschulranking” (University ranking) which was processed by UNIcheck.de.
Since the "International Management for Top Athletes" programme was established (unique in Germany),[citation needed] there are about 90 German Olympic athletes studying on the campus. The most famous student is probably Kati Wilhelm, a multiple Olympic and World Champion in biathlon. Other notable sportspeople who have studied on the International Management programme at the University include biathlete Michael Greis and ski jumper Severin Freund.
