Hochschule der Medien

The Hochschule der Medien ( HdM ) is a state university of applied sciences based in Stuttgart. 23 accredited bachelor and master programs are available: from print to audiovisual media, information management and computer science, advertising or media production to media management and packaging technology.

In all study programs, according to own data by theory and practical projects active knowledge transfer is offered. Media content, technology and business would be linked together. Teamwork would be trained, conceptual thinking would be trained and the organization of media activities would be practised.

The study contents are accredited and are regularly reviewed by quality assurance measures and adjusted to current developments in the media industries. A practical semester is part of the bachelor program. The master's degree programs impart more theoretical knowledge, which is often checked for suitability in project hours. In cooperation with partner universities, it is possible to do a doctorate at the HdM.

Since the winter semester 2004, HdM has been one of the first universities in Germany to change its degree programs to Bachelor's and Master's degrees as part of the Bologna Process. For the winter semester 2011/2012, the bachelor's program was extended to seven semesters. Currently, there are three faculties:

  • Faculty of Printing and Media
  • Faculty of Electronic Media
  • Faculty of Information and Communication
