Hochschule Heilbronn

The University of Heilbronn is a university of applied sciences with a focus on technology, business and computer science, which is located in Baden-Württemberg. It is spread over four locations: 1. Main Campus in Heilbronn -Sontheim 2. Education Campus at the Europaplatz in Heilbronn with the Faculty of International Business (opening October 2011), 3. Reinhold-Würth University in Künzelsau and 4. Campus Schwäbisch Hall with specialization in management and sales (opening in autumn 2009 ).

On April 17, 1961, the forerunner school State Engineering School Heilbronn was founded, the founding director was Friedrich Aßmus, previously director of the engineering school Furtwangen. The first study courses were precision engineering and mechanical engineering, the latter subdivided into the trains industrial engineering and construction. At first, lessons were taught in rented rooms in the Heilbronn railway station district, the administration was in the former Heilbronn cigar factory accommodated. Due to the rapid increase in the number of students from 50 (1961) to 260 (1963), the school was soon in need of space, in the spring of 1964 it was spread over four locations throughout Heilbronn. In the same year, the first 57 graduates completed their engineering studies. In the fall of 1965, after two and a half years of construction, the engineering school moved to a new building on Max-Planck-Strasse in the south of Heilbronn, which was to accommodate the 750 students envisaged in the plan. With the summer semester, 1966 came Physical Engineering as a fourth study course to it. In 1969, the founding director Aßmus retired, his successor was Walter Hellerich.

After the establishment of the study course manufacturing business changed 1969 the name in state engineering school and higher business school Heilbronn. In the summer semester of 1971 followed by the traffic management business, a second business administration degree program.
