The Hochschule RheinMain - University of Applied Sciences - Wiesbaden Rüsselsheim (formerly Fachhochschule Wiesbaden ) is a state university of the state of Hesse with locations in Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim am Main. It has 13,730 (as of winter semester 2018/2019) students in over 70 study programs.
The formerly independent departments of architecture and civil engineering were merged on September 1, 2005, which should also clarify the long-standing relationship - despite all the rivalry. Both emerged from the already founded in 1869 former construction school and later building a school in Idstein. In 1971, the Bauschule part of the newly founded Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences but was initially still in Idstein settled. Only in 1993 moved to a spacious new building with solid construction and hydraulic engineering laboratory and other laboratories.
The department emerged on 1 January 2006 from the former departments of computer science, design and media management. There are about 2,000 students enrolled, who are looked after by about 50 professors.
The Department of Engineering is located in Rüsselsheim am Main. It includes the study areas information technology and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental technology and services as well as physics, four former faculties, which merged on September 1, 2006.
This department has existed since the winter semester 1974/75 at the study location Wiesbaden. It was offered from the beginning to a uniform diploma course, which gave up the separation of social work and social education.
