At the IPU, the subject Psychology is offered with training content that integrates a humanities orientation of psychoanalytic psychology with the scientific orientation of academic psychology. Currently (as of summer semester 2018) a Bachelor of Science degree program in Psychology and five Master of Arts programs are offered. Like every German university, the IPU can independently decide which academic degree it awards.
A Master of Arts program in Psychology is a unique feature within the German higher education landscape, otherwise, the Bachelor or Master of Science degrees are awarded in the subject Psychology.
