Merz Akademie is a non-profit, nationally accredited university of artdesign, and media in StuttgartGermany. With an emphasis on the disciplines of humanities, social and cultural studies, design, art and technology, Merz Akademie positions itself between a classical art academy, a technical college, and a school of humanities.

Originally named "Werkshaus mit Werkschule", Merz Akademie was founded in 1918 by Albrecht Leo Merz to address the dehumanizing demands of the Machine Age. The multi-functional school has a kindergarten, a primary school, and a workshop. The curriculum was derived from a philosophy of education characterized by a progressive and holistic approach

The bachelor's program in ArtDesign and Media includes classes in film, video, visual communication and new media. The school focuses heavily on research and experimental studies and integrating critical studies in design and art.

The master's program in art, design and media offers humanities students research projects in the fields of filmvideodesign, art, and new media

This school is accredited by the Regional Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, the government ministry that oversees the local policies and direction of the scientific and research system in the Baden-Württemberg state.
