About Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule Sankt Georgen
The Philosophical-Theological College Sankt Georgen, in short, PTH Sankt Georgen, is a state-recognized, private Catholic university in Jesuit sponsorship in Frankfurt am Main. It is affiliated with the diocesan seminarySankt Georgen and a Jesuit community.
The institution of the university is the Munich-based German Province of the Jesuits. The university is largely funded by the dioceses of Limburg, Osnabrück, Hildesheim and the Archdiocese of Hamburg, who send their candidates for the priesthood to study theology in Frankfurt. At present, about half of the professors and lecturers are members of the Jesuit order
The university's library specializes in the theological and philosophical literature. It contains almost half a million volumes (as of 2018), including a considerable inventory of manuscripts, late medieval incunabula and books from the 16th to the 17th century, which is maintained by its own restoration workshop. The libraries of the Jesuit College Valkenburg and other Jesuit colleges were integrated into the Sankt Georgener Hochschulbibliothek.
The mission of the IWM is to devote itself to the aspects of missionary science and Catholic theology in an international context in research and teaching. The aim of the IWM is to theologically reflect the missionary nature of the Church and its worldwide expansion. Content-related priorities are among others
