University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen - the oldest continuously operating higher education institution in the country - is one of Hungary's top research universities, offering the widest range of Hungarian education with 14 faculties and 23 doctoral schools.

                         The roots of the city's higher education were in the XVI. century. The Debrecen Reformed College was founded in 1538 and has played an important role in Hungarian education and culture for many centuries.

The Gerundium symbol of the University of Debrecen also holds this date, referring to its ancestors and traditions
