Western Washington University (WWU), located in Bellingham, Washington, is the northernmost public university in the contiguous United States. Founded in 1893 as the New Whatcom Normal School, it evolved from a private women's teaching institution into a respected public university.

WWU offers a diverse range of bachelor's and master's degree programs. As of 2014, the university enrolled approximately 15,060 students, with 14,407 undergraduates, supported by 764 faculty members. Known for its Viking athletic teams, WWU's school colors are Western blue, bay blue, and white.
