The Academy was founded in 1964 in Rome by Rosana Pistolese, historian of costume and fashion, as well as costume designer for theater, television and cinema, as well as a writer and fashion and costume writer. After the period of formation spent in Naples, in contact with illustrious and enlightened families like that of Benedetto Croce and Francesco Saverio Nitti , he took his first steps writing articles (signed Rosana or Rosana Pistolese) published in the " Corriere di Napoli ", " Mezzanotte "," Voice of Naples "," Rome "," I l Mattino ".

At the beginning of the 50s he moved to Capri and, with Emilio Pucci andLivio De Simone , creates some models for a small collection, called " Il giro dell'isola " to be presented at the Hotel Quisisana: it was for Pistolese the launch pad in the world of fashion and cinema. Thus began his activity as a costume designer and draftsman.

Founded in 1964, today the Academy is among the most important fashion schools in the world
