Germany APS Checklist for Indian Students 2027

APS India verifies academic documents and qualifications issued by Indian educational institutions for applicants planning to study in Germany. The APS certificate is generally required for the German student visa process. For selected Master’s applicants from specific subject groups, dMAT is now an additional APS requirement for Summer Semester 2027 and later intakes.

What Is APS India?

APS India is part of the Science Section of the German Embassy in New Delhi. It verifies Indian academic documents and educational qualifications. APS does not decide university admission and does not make visa decisions.

Who Needs APS?

The applicable APS procedure depends on your academic background and intended pathway. APS India currently provides separate procedures for Class XII applicants, JEE Main and Advanced applicants, undergraduates with at least two completed Bachelor semesters, graduates/postgraduates and certain partnership or state-law procedures.

The current APS processing fee shown in APS documentation is ₹18,000 per applicant. APS also states that the processing fee is non-refundable once paid, regardless of the verification outcome.

dMAT for Selected Master’s Applicants

APS India introduced dMAT as an additional requirement for selected Master’s applicants whose previous degree falls within Engineering, Commerce / Accounting / Finance / Economics, or Business / Management. APS states that the dMAT introduction is intended for Summer Semester 2027 Master intake and later intakes.

  • Applicants subject to dMAT may submit their APS documents before the dMAT certificate is available.
  • APS can begin document verification in advance.
  • The APS certificate can only be issued after the required dMAT certificate has been submitted and checked.
  • dMAT does not replace APS, formal recognition requirements, anabin checks or the university admission decision.
