East-Siberian State University of Technology

The East Siberia State University of Technology is located in the capital of Buryatia - Ulan-Ude - and is one of the leading educational and scientific centres that carry out preparation, retraining and improvement of professional skill of engineering staff of the Eastern Siberia. ESSUTM is a large Institution of Higher Education not only in Siberia and the Far East but also in Russia.

Establishment of ESIT is closely connected with the name of professor Vasily Rodionovich Filippov - rector of Buryat Zoological and Veterinary Institute. In 1955 thanks to the initiative of Vasily Rodionovich preparation of engineers in three technical specialities started: "Industrial and civil building", "Technology of leather and fur", "Technology of meat and meat products". Being already the Chairman of the Ministers’ council of the Buryat Autonomous Republic, and then the first secretary of the Buryat regional committee of the communist party, professor V.R.Filippov persistently brought his attention to the question of technical college organizing in Buryatia. Result of such activity was the Decision of Ministers’ Council of the USSR ? 479 from May, 2nd, 1962 about the organization in Ulan-Ude East Siberian Institute of Technology.

On June, 19th, 1962 there was the order of Minister of the higher and specialized secondary education of the RSFSR about the organization of East Siberian Institute of Technology on the basis of the technological and building faculties of Buryat Agricultural Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RSFSR.
