History of the University, as an institution of higher education, started with the USSR Council of Ministers Decree number 1291 of May 18, 1953 "On measures for preparation of the engineering staff for the Ministry of Communications" and the Minister of Communications of the USSR Order of May 22, 1953 ? 544, pursuant to which opened the doors of the Kuibyshev Electrotechnical Institute of communications in January 1956. One of the main tasks of the newly created institution was the organization of training highly qualified specialists for the rapidly developing radio networks, radio, television, and wireline.
